Some like it hot

And if you’re one of them, you’re lucky to be living in the right century for it. You can see global warming in action in this short video from NASA. It’s a compelling animation which shows how temperatures have increased since 1880. NASA selected the period of 1951 to 1980 as the baseline, and the shades of blue show where temperatures were lower than this baseline average, whereas the shades of red show temperatures higher than the average. I came across this video in a post on Climate Central.

According to an article in The Guardian, the last 60 years have also been the hottest in Australasia for a millennium. In the report, scientists stated that natural causes did not explain the increased temperatures. They did the climate reconstruction in 3,000 different ways before concluding (with 95% accuracy) that no other period in the past 1,000 years matched or exceeded post-1950 warming in Australia.

Is it just me, or is it getting hot in here?
